I mentioned in another thread that we are snowed in and can't get out and that the car is buried under the snow. A member asked me to post a picture of the car. This is what it looks like when I open the front door.

The car is out there someplace, I am not going to step foot off of the porch.

We didn't get that much new snow, but because of the very low temperature the snow is very dry and drifting into high drifts. Just guessing it looks like the drifts are at least 8 feet deep.

Presently we are in Evansville, earlier this morning the temperature was at -36 F I believe that is about -45C. But we are slowly warming up, watch my weather banner in my signature. We were supposed to be in Zeeland last night and in Faith today.

And what thick snow!
Car buried some place? Will you wait for the snow to melt to use it?

- 60C ? :offended:

breathtaking shots!

The temperature warmed up a little so I edited the post to reflect that. I did not notice you had posted this before I did the edit. So if anhbody wonders where you got the -60C from, that was on the original post.

We did manage to get hold of a person with heavy snow removal equipment, he is going to send a crew over to dig us out.

Ohhhhhhhhh jazakAllaah khair, I dint think you understood the rep, I wanted you to do the contest thing! :thumbs_up

But woah, where is the car??!! eheh.

Those pics are beautiful. It I love the blue sky in contrast with the white snow. Also like how the sun puts the surrounding light into perspective

Mashallah, we got some people out here with snow removal equipment. The car is unhurt, was just a bit hard to start.

Here was the driveway before:

Here it is now:

I moved the car back to near where I think it was parked, before the snow covered it. I can not tell from the top picture, I think the hump in the snow was the car.

Woaaah the snows really thick..:skeleton:

i'm just wondering how ppl go outside there homes in such weather?:ermm:

Yea, How do people go about their day to day lives? Just simple things like get groceries and things?

The snow is so thick. It looks really rock solid. Was it more like ice? Im more used to seeing fluffy snow.

Did you have to call a snow plough to remove the snow for you or is it something that you local council or something provides?

Most people this far north. Begin stocking up on groceries in November and try to get enough to last until May or June. Most of the school age kids are home schooled.

The consistency is more like fine sand or granulated sugar. It is much too cold for it to have any moisture so it does not stick. The bad part is the wind blows it into huge drifts.

We are quite far from any town or even neighbors. We did manage to collect a lot of phone numbers of people who have heavy equipment. So we called a man who has a farm about 20 miles from us. He sent out a crew along with plows and snow blowers. His charge was reasonable. Mashallah

This is beautiful country, but it is a hard life and I would not recommend it to anybody who is used to city living.

Now for a reminder of what it looks like out here in the summer time.
