Your right he didnt really say he was a Muslim... well according to the wikipedia. He used to recite daily prayers at dawn is what it says here on the site. God knows what he really was. He never asked people to follow him. He said to worship the one true God, not himself.

Peace
Sikhism has more ideas of Islam

And you have ideas of Judaism...

Hows that offensive. Only God knows what he was, cuz Muslims claim he was Muslim and sikhs dont agree. That only means God knows best. Calm down seriously. No ones tryin to offend any1. But ur offending the most by sayin we consider him a prophet, which is completely wrong.

Ok JSS and unbreakable, how about you two answer my remianing questions then.

So what is your position of Prophet Muhammed PBUH. i find this very difficult to understand. did he receive revelation then from God? Ie was he a messenger? Or was he according to you a liar, ie he must have been lieing that he claimed to be given revelation from God, like how us muslims believe Guru nanek to be lieing if he claimed to have received revelation from god. Please clarify Sikh doctrine

Well open your mind abit, maybe you didn't know but not the whole world is Muslim.
He was a prophet but the quran as you Muslims normally state, was compiled after his death. Your scriptures are your reference to Muhammed. To me, he created a religion and was just a prophet. Also there were other prophets, dietes that have walked this earth-their followers claiming that theirs is the only truth, you are no different.
The clarification regarding Sikhi has been given-maybe if you care to open your eyes then you will see, I don't think you need to be spoon fed on everything.
All I sense is ego-filled views moss and going over the same issues like a broken record, if you believe that your religion is the only truth then please do carry on believing it- no one is going to take that away from you but no need to shove your religion in the faces of others. Good luck in your journey.

I didn't participate in this discussion from the beginning so I am not sure what is going on now.... I do know for sure that this is a Muslim forum for the purpose of promoting Islam.... so in essence you coming here discussing Sikhism would be shoving that in Muslim faces not the converse.... either way I don't want to partake in this debate since my best friend and roommate through graduate school is Sikh and I love her dearly ... for her sake alone I'll look the other way (bhul chuk maaf) pardon our mistakes as well as good luck on your journey....

As-salam alaykum wara matulha ive read the granth shaib and read about sikhism ive debated with many sikhs alhumdolilha and ive got good relationship with the sikh communnity. I would like to ask jss a couple of questions inshallah they will open hes eyes. Firstly if Sikhism is the true religion what is before sikhism? surely as you now guru granth shaib is the founder of sikhism and it is a relative NEW religion if you are saying that hinduism is the religion before sikhism then why has god then changed hes mind and if it was islam then why has it changed? Another question is if its none then are you trying to say for hte past centuries god has not created a religon? Also why would god need to start a religion which is already there. Sikhism is - beliving in one god .... Islam - belive in one god... i dont understand its like a person called fred could start the same thing but called fredism if you understand. (i would like these replies before i carry on this is just as a resraunt calls a appetiser ;) )

Sorry i have been on for a long long long long time its just that exams got in the way my gcses inshallah ill contribute alot towards this thread :D

oki.. sum people told me that sikhs believe in a god who is human.. like my RE teacher?!?! and im soooooo confused

It is rather that Sikhs believe in following the teaching of a known master. A Master is defined as a person adept in skill of defining our self so as that we may better know. Sometimes this person is a Saint. The word Guru is truly translated into English as Saint, but both the English word Saint and the Hindi word Guru, like the word Buddha, have lost vastly of the true meaning in this modern age.

It is that such a person when genuine is able to cause that Prayer is more effective, and that is the simple reality. Yet it is also the case that persons whom are not true believers have been in past times enabled to worship such individuals, only because it is better than no Religious worship at all.

Yet all in all the function of such persons is best understood as a combination of an Imam, and Mujahideen, and a Sheik. People whom are so elevated can only come to a very hard end if they turn out to be less than what they profess. But what they profess to is really only, no more and no less, than being able to accurately perceive reality, with or without Qur'an, but in that can Qur'an have caused that the function of such persons is superceeded.

:sl:

Thats true, also the granth is just what people belive like there own opinion on stuff, the guru granth shaib isnt a devine revaltion its just something people wrote to give there own view. This indicates that the granth and sikhism isnt a religion but just like a tribe of people who follow a certain way of life. When they gudwara they bow down to this granth as a sign of respect which is clearly near to worshipping.
:w:

What do you want me to say that Sikhs worship him?

What??!!

Read what you originally said here

Just because we respect a person does not make it wrong to question what he practices and what he preaches, especially if it's contradicting!

And to which i replied that you don't just respect Muhammed PBUH, you consider him a prophet, so you shouldn't question what he does. I'm not asking you to worship him, i'm asking you to clarify your ambigious doctrine, if you consider him to be a prophet, then why question what he does. And for the record, there is no contradiction in what Prophet Muhammed PBUH preaches as you might mistakenly believe

All these links you've provided are based on a muslims point of view. It means nothing :)

:uhwhat

We're going in cricles again. Look i know we end up discussing a lot of different issues, but its not to difficult to keep up to speed. This is what you originally wrote here (NOTE i've added underlined formatting to add emphasis to what you said)

As for muslims respecting Guru Nanak ji, you'll have to ask the learned ones not the fundamentalist for their views.

To which i replied showing how scholars of islam (ie the "learned ones") have said Guru Nanek is not a prophet according to islam, we do not respect him as a guru as if he claims to be another messenger we consider him a dajjal, an anti-christ, as the porphet Muhammed PNUH said no future prophets PBUT will come, only false prophets. It is a baseless claim which you keep making that we erespect nanak as a prophet, which is absolutely false, if you do find muslims respecting him, it will be only those who think sikhs after his death distorted his life, and believe he was in actual fact a muslim. i hope this is clear now
