It mos of da time dependz on da person init.. so lyk if u waz 2 go up2 a non muslim - u wud proli call dem 2 tawheed (the Oneness of Allaah) first.. buh da problem iz dat bare muslimz dno dat eitha.. da fing wit da muslimz iz dat most mite na be sincere in it at da beginin.. so u gota ask yoself - wa interested u abt islam first?

Wa will interest da person 2? wa type of person am i talkin 2? wil dey accept wa i say or wil dey jus igno wa i say? talk 2 dem equal 2 da level of faith dat dey got..

eg. if yo talkin 2 a person who want's 2 reli learn abt da deen, den u jus ask dem - dyu feel dat islam is da truth? and dey mite be confused and actuali want 2 knw why islam is da truth. So da bes way 2 show dem dat islam is da truth is 2 show dem tawheed [Oneness of Allaah] (the main thing abt islam):

1) There is one Allaah (God) - He created us so we would worship Him, and no-one else. Not jesus, or buddha, or some stone idol, or some government etc. But to worship and obey Him Almighty Alone.

2) He sends messengers to people to tell them to worship Him, and these messengers tell us how He wants us to worship Him. The people who accept these messengers, - Allaah will reward them wit jannah, buh those who disbelieve:

There is no compulsion in religion (Qur'an 2:256) But in the end - we will be brought back to Allaah, and Allaah will judge us on wa we did.. cuz obviously we created for a purpose, not just 2 earn all that wealth and die.

3) Mention the 99names of Allaah with translations, and ask the person if they feel confused about if any of them are true or not. Cuz naturally - it's in our fitrah to believe that Allaah is the Greatest, Most Forgiving, The King etc.

4) the people who believe and did good, they will be rewarded for submitting to Allaah, and those who disbelieved will be punished.

This is when u should try to show them the punishment of hellfire, and the rewards of jannah/paradise.

I keep mentioning this alot, but Aa'isha (may Allaah Almighty be pleased with her) said that if Allaah had revealed the verses of ordering people to give up their alcohol etc. at the beginning, no-one would listen. But instead, Allaah revealed the verses paradise and hell, and judgement day to attract the people to islam - this mainly happened in the Makkan Period.

Only in the Medinan Period did the verses abt banning of alcohol, hijaab etc. come down.

Therefore, explain the reality of jannah and hell, and judgement day at the beginning. And after that, help them gradually to wear the hijaab fulltime etc. Because you know that what influenced you the most in practising was that you realised the reality of jannah/paradise and hell, whereas the others may not have the same level of faith. So help them gain that firmer faith, and then after that - they will feel desperate to wear it, because they will realise that they are disobeying Allaah Almighty.

I'll carry this on later insha'Allaah.. but i feel that this is the most important part in calling people to islam.

Allaah Almighty knows best.

There's another group of people who proli wouldn't give you the time that you wanted for da'wah. These people are safe and kind, but they don't really want to follow islam whole heartedly.. They good people - but they think that later on, when i'm older - i'll follow islam then insha'Allaah.

For these people, i think you should try to liven islam up for them and you should be friendly and kind to them, just so that they have you as a closer friend. The Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) did say that:

"A person is likely to follow the faith of his friend, so look whom you befriend."(Abu Dawood and at-Tirmidhee)

So for these types of people, you don't need to hang out with them all the time - but do it in a way where you can be kind to them, so they don't feel your a threat, but at the same time - you don't actually get influenced by what they say or do, but you do influence them in a way which will leave some thoughts in their head.

A good example of this is when you might see the person abit stressed, because they got too much coursework. So to make them feel abit better, or just to lighten things up - say, "ohh don't worry, it's that time of the year init, plus the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi waSalam) said that:

"No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that." (Sahih Bukhari)

This is just something small, but it kinda leaves an imprint in the persons mind because they realise the reasons why muslims do get a hard time in the world is because Allaah loves people, so He tests them and forgives their sins and greatens the muslims rewards in this life and the afterlife insha'Allaah. And the non muslim gets tested so he can look for help from a higher Power, who else can they turn to besides God, Allaah? So they go in search for looking for the truth. And whoever is sincere in searching for the truth and keeps an open heart, Allaah will guide them insha'Allaah.

So we know if a person was to follow the Qur'an and Sunnah in this life, they'd be rewarded and Allaah would give them an easier and blessed life in this world and the hereafter.

It's also good to mention exciting facts that might have happened to the companions (male or female) of the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him.) Because the people have role models to look upto, instead of just the media.

It's also good to show the Kindness and Mercy of Allaah, but do it in a way that they will love to come to Allaah, mention that Allaah forgives all sins to someone who might have sinned alot and if they feel guilty, but don't mention it to someone at this moment in time - if they are the type to go ahead and do more sins because of the Mercy of Allaah.

Urge these kind of people to think more about death, and that there are loads of people in history, and even nowadays who feel they will live forever, but they die in the worst state - like elvis when he died on the toilet or tupac when he got shot etc. And whatever state we die in, we will be raised like that on the day of judgement.

Tell them that if they do good to please Allaah, so if a sister covers herself to please Allaah, Allaah will bless her with more beauty insha'Allaah. And if a brother trains for the sake of pleasing Allaah, Allaah will strenghthen him more, as long as they keep their duty to Him Almighty.

Allaah Almighty knows best, and if you confused about anything i said - or need more info. please ask insha'Allaah. jazak Allaahu khayr.

alaikumassalm this thread bugs me because I have a sneaking suspicion that persons familiar with Arabic who use the internet alot find themselves better able to make precise expressions in these short hand lingo means as the internet slang, but I am so structural, and that I practise presenting my expression in the most explicitly precise means possible, which is amounting to formal standard Australian English. bleh! I did try at the start of using Islamic internet forums to express myself in Aboriginal dialects of English since such are closer to Arabic as I hear. But everybody only observed me as failing in standardised English expressions, so, at that, she'll be right mate, I guess. I should find a thread to make a passage about music in since I approached the computer this evening with intent on that score. mu'asalam
