So sindi is different from punjabi? I thought both were same...:ermm:
Do you think everyone here is hyderabadi? Now I think maybe you are also one of them .
^ Did she ask anyone to correct her?
OK Hyderabadis... tell me, what proportion of the population of the City of Hyderabad (Andra Pradesh, India) speak Urdu and what proportion speak Telugu? Is it fair to assume most people are conversant in both?
i love Hyderabadi's Urdu.... actually i love correcting them....
2) Ab hyderabad itna surkhiyon me hai to ,hyderabadi biryani bahot famous hai.to uski recipe post kar dena.han pata tumhe banane nahi ati ,ammi se pooch lena.
Is it fair to assume most people are conversant in both?
Hyderabad me dekho 42% musalmaan hai aur baaki ghair musalmaan...aur sirf musalmaan hi hyderabadi urdu baat karte hai....aur kuch musalmaan faseeh urdu baat karte hai...baaki ghair musalmaan to telugu hi baat karrte hai. Maza aata jab telugu log urdu me baat karne ki koshish karte hai...:giggling:
'Majid bhai, kaisa hai re.' ek hi statement me izzat bhi baizzati bhi.![]()
Then you have the young generation, who have basically almost lost the pure Urdu language and are almost ashamed of the language because Muslims in general have been marginalised in the country.
Muslims while the custodians of this beautiful and rich language should teach their non-Urdu speaking fellow citizens how to speak.
But it seems like a joke to me that...
Why? It what sense...?
If a person wants to learn urdu then he have to go to urdu medium school or attend a full time course, i guess. and no one's got time for that here...life's busy...
I was addressing you, AM. Yest you said you don't like being corrected, and now you were thanking(with a smile) someone who corrected you![]()
Gussa dilaane wali baat thi ye, lol.
I thought as much. In my opinion Urdu shouldn't be just the language of the Muslims but spread far and wide, and Muslims while the custodians of this beautiful and rich language should teach their non-Urdu speaking fellow citizens how to speak.
My understanding from one online interview is that Urdu is primarily acquired from the home and some parents' attitude is that there is no benefit in learning Urdu. 'Aaj ke zamaaney men koi achhi naukri nahin mil jai gi Urdu ke saath' - something like this. But with English there are more job opportunities, blah blah blah. So as a result the youth are loosing their mother tongue, their culture, their identity and trying to create a mixture of different identities- which is not always good. Well, this is my opinion anyways.
