Vertigo, as in the illness, and not the Hitchcock's movie. I am fascinated by this illness as my brother is currently hospitalized after getting vertigo attack two days ago. He was driving alone when it happened and alhamdulillah he was still able to maneuver the car to stop on the side and avoided accident although by that time he was already vomiting all over the car. He recounted that he felt as if he was watching television with bad signal where the picture are black and white and going zigzagging all over the place and he felt as if he was traveling at high speed in roller coaster going upside down.

Right now, he is still learning to sit up and stand up, and still feeling as if he were in an earthquake with the ground shifting all the time.
What is staggering to me is that how such little disturbance in his inner balance can cause a man to be that incapacitated. Subhanallah.
An atheist may not find anyhting unusual in it, but i find it as another sign of Allah SWT. I think it is also a sign for him to be more careful with his lifestyle (his bad cholesterols is very high, he's been hard at work with not much rest) and to take care of his health a little better.

May Allah swt grant him shifa'a..
he should go check it out, see if it is peripheral or central.. in all likelihood if he had a prodrome it is peripheral and nothing to worry about..
I get benign positional vertigo quite often myself it is pretty scary..

:w:

what is a prodome?

He's being taken care by a neurologist although I'm not quite sure if it's really proper.
He's been having headaches as well and the back of his head/neck is very heavy.

he's taking narfoz (ondansetron), mertigo, potassium chloride, betaserc, sibelium, lypanthyl and methy cobalt
A couple of years ago my cousin was also hospitalized for a week for the same illness. I didn't know that vertigo could last that long.

And because the doctor said he's at high risk, he is to consult a heart specialist and he is now getting a multi slice scan for his head.

Salam Alaikkum

Amen for the Duaa.

Vertigo in my language is someone who is striking or something, never knew its a type of illness

I had a fast growing acoustic neuroma tumor in my head and it destroyed my right side balance and hearing praying has been difficult as I loss my sense of balance easy. The best to your brother, thats never fun, the first time I was hospitalized I had to get emergency brain surgery.

:(

Subhanallah....

May ALLAH give our brothers and sisters good health...

a prodrome is when you feel it coming on (since you mentioned vomiting and a scintillating pattern) ondansetron is an excellent medication, is it working for him? in the U.S they hardly use the good stuff, one time I had a migraine, went to the ER in the hospital where I was rotating, they gave me a cheap anti-emetic and a migraine med and charged me $1500 lol
I think an MRI is an excellent idea for his peace of mind but my suspicion is that he has Meniere’s disease please keep us updated on his condition. We shall keep him in our du3a

This is nystagmus not vertigo.. multitudes of causes except for vertical nystagmus usually just one cause..

and Allah swt knows best
