There are different types of prayer. The types of prayer are examined in three different parts. They can be expressed as fard prayers, wajib prayers and supererogatory prayers. What is Tahiyyetü'l Masjid Prayer and How to Perform it?
Even though Tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer literally means greeting the masjid and showing respect to the masjid, its actual meaning is different. All goods and property belong only to Allah. Tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer expresses respecting and glorifying Allah, the owner of the masjids. If a Muslim enters the mosque for the purpose of worship, visiting or any other purpose, he must perform two rakaats of prayer.
For a person who needs to enter the same mosque several times in the same day, it will be sufficient to perform the tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer only once. Tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer is a prayer that must be performed before sitting down after entering the masjid. When a person first enters the mosque, it is recommended that he first pray two rakats. If a person enters the mosque for the purpose of praying and performs the fard prayer or any other prayer, there is no need to perform the tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer. The prayer performed replaces the tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer. Tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer is performed as two rakats. However, it is also possible to perform it as four rakats.
How to Make the Intention of Tahiyyatul Masjid Prayer?
Tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer can be expressed as a prayer that must be performed when first entering a masjid or mosque. Whether one enters the mosque for the purpose of visiting or praying, one must perform the tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer. When intending to pray, one must intend to perform the tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer. However, if the person entering the masjid intends to perform a fard prayer, he does not need to also intend to perform the tahiyyatu'l masjid prayer.
Tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer is performed as two rakats sunnah. First of all, the person must make the intention as follows: "I intend to perform the tahiyyetu'l masjid prayer for the sake of Allah." Afterwards, takbir is recited for the first rakat. Immediately afterwards, subhanake is read. Say the Bismillah Euzu and read the Surah Fatiha. Then, a surah from the Holy Quran is read. You go into ruku by saying Allahu Akbar. After saying 'subhana rabbiyal azim' three times during ruku, you stand up by saying 'semiallahu limen hamideh'. While standing, say 'rabbena lekel hamd' and go into prostration. In prostration, 'subhana rabbiyal ala' is said three times. Saying Allahu Akbar, you sit down and after saying Allahu Akbar, you go into prostration again. In the prostration, 'subhana rabbiyal ala' is said three times and the first rakat is completed.
For the second rakat, you stand up and recite the Fatiha surah after reciting the Bismillah. Afterwards, a surah from the Quran is read. After ruku and prostration, intermediate sitting is done. Then you go to prostration. After reading Ettehiyyatü, salli ve barik, rabbena prayers, greetings are made and the prayer is completed.
