Re: What does your (real) name mean?

My name in latin means, 'Starlike', 'of the stars' or 'shining', in hebrew it means 'part' (part of something) and in arabic, its derived from a bigger word but I don't want to let that out, although I've heard horrible meanings for my name in arabic as well.... Also, my name is some type of wine/cider in some foreign country..

But I hate my name... I'd like to change it to something else, but I don't know what....

Salam Alaikum,

Mine is Hanaan; I believe it means caring or loving. I changed it from Hosna which means goodness.

why don't u change ur Gender icon to the SISTER IN ISLAM one rather than the SISTER IN HUMANITY ? :)

Because I thought about the word humanity, and as far as I'm concerned, humanity is one and all of the Lord Almighty Allah's belonging and therefore I will stand side by side with Muslims and non-Muslims alike on the Day of Reckoning....

I'm sure most people think of it as declare yourself as a part of Islam, or declare yourself part of humanity, which as it is the only other option aside from sis/bro in Islam, it seems like it is to say you are not part of Islam.

I am Ishallah a part in Islam, but I cannot deny I am also a part in Humanity. Each to their own at the way they look at it and maybe mine is too philosophical for a message board status - but you did ask.

A non-Muslim is not my brother in Islam and of the right way by my beliefs, but he is still an undeniable descendant of Adam-ul Islam and therefore is an undeniable brother in humanity. Humanity is only of this life, Islam extends to the afterlife. Therefore, whether the Lord accepts me with His mercy and Grace as a Muslim none of us will really know until that Day (we can only strive to be accepted)....but until that day I know for certain that I am part of Humanity as I come from the same place as everybody else.

Voila

Wassalaam, Aliah ;)
