Salam alaykum

I carry my hijab with all sincerity from Allah. Narrowminded people don´t hurt myself.

:hmm:

They may try but I am stronger. By will of Allah.

:salamext:

I have heard many times racist comments here about it but I don´t care about them.

:alhamd: Good! You shouldn't. You're pleasing :Allah: :swt:, the most important of all

carry my hijab with all sincerity from Allah.

That's my girl
:statisfie

I had racist comments thrown at me even when I wasn't wearing Hijab! Especially the word "P***" and I'm not even Pakistani, I used to respond by saying "I know, care to tell me anything else that I don't already know?", and then began to say, "my ancestors were but I'm not" The baffled looks on their faces.

:haha:

I began fully wearing the Hijab after I became married, at the tender age of 17 :D

What do you guys (honestly) think of other women who don't wear hijab, or who don't dress according to your idea of modesty?

"Girls", or better "Sisters" :)

I make Du'a to :Allah: to lead them on the true path and to give them the courage to wear it too. The amount of pressure that is upon girls in the Westand now spreading to the East is ridiculous, the media does not help. They make it worse. But :ia: Islam shall prevail and our beloved sisters shall be strong in their faith and find the true way soon

Lead by example, that's what I think.

Exactly :D

Chances are the person knows what they're doing, and you telling them will most likely rub them the wrong way. If you must do something, just lead by example without directly bringing it up. I know I'd personally get annoyed if somebody started bothering me about beards or more traditional clothing, so I'd assume it'd be similar for hijab.
^ Yeah! I would really feel offended if someone tells me to do something also at times when it is islamic. If the sister knows what she is doing then I completely think that It's her decision to choose what she want to do. Maybe she thinks there is nothing wrong in it or anything. I don't think I would even try to make her understand that we should wear hijab etc because she can think its her freedom of choice. I would accept that her thinking is different from mine.

OK. Really? Interesting... Fair do's...

I ask straight up as to why they don't wear Hijab. I don't say it in a patronising way, but in a way that shows them that who am I to judge them. Ya know? And :alhamd: they respond positively, I hear their reasons, and they don't get offended at all for me asking them. Seriously. Or they themselves just tell me why they don't wear them without me even bringing up the the subject or asking them!

in here, when people talk about me something racist and I turn back they go so red.

I am the teacher of my language and speak and understand it perfecly.

:omg:

what makes me mad are those abaya boutiques.

Abaya's are for covering up not looking good n showing off. Nowadays abaya's are better than clothes srsly ppl hav forgotten the purpose.

Haha :p that made me laugh because...I don't know, it's funny :embarrass

There is actually a company/business called Abaya Boutique but she doesn't sell Abaya's, she sells Maxi Dresses, and if you asked her she'd probably tell you she's not selling clothing that is meant to be worn outside. People have different interpretations of the word Abaya.

My business is called Muslimah's Closet and I don't sell Abaya's either, but that doesn't mean that what I am selling is an alternative to an Abaya or should be worn in place of one, just because something is long and looks like an Abaya to you, doesn't make it one. It could just as well be a long fitted dress meant to be worn indoors, hope that makes sense :)

The boutiques ur talking abt r regular boutiques ova here the abaya/burqa boutiques r separate they only sell abaya's/burqa's hijaabs outer coverings etc. n then i heard they had a fashion show :S

I know they're both different :)

I wear niqab,I tried to wear burqa on that I went to market I couldn't see anything properly,so I stick to Niqab.
Pardon my asking, but what's the difference, aren't they the same thing?
I think what sister Pure Purple meant is Afghan/Pakistan burqa like this
burka= abaya

I'm confused...a non-Muslim asked me what is the difference between burqa and niqaab, and I thought burqa is like a veil that covers the whole head including the eyes, like the Afghan one. But I've also seen that it should mean abaya. But people don't seem to use it that way. So what really is a burqa?

As-salamu 3laikum,

I just found this on Islamqa as well:

"As for the niqaab, Abu ‘Ubayd said, concerning the definition of niqaab among the Arabs: It is that from which the socket of the eye appears, and they used to call it al-waswasah or al-burqa’."

http://www.islamqa.com/en/ref/100719/burqa

That suggests it is the same as niqaab, or am I wrong? Or maybe people use the same word to describe different aspects of a woman's hijab? If anyone knows the explanation please tell me.

a niqaab is the cloth/veil tht covers the face.

a burqa or an abaya is a coat tht covers the body.

n the scarf covers the hair.

I'v been wearing the scarf since i was 11, although there was a period when i was 15 and took it off..but now i'm a full time wearer :statisfie My hijab defines me and i love it!

Hijab and niqab has been turned into a mockery today, unfortunately. The number of hijabi's, niqabi's and kurta, bearded guys doing haraam these days is shocking.....they just give islam and muslims a bad name.

I started covering my hair last week. I work in a very relaxed environment. Lots of joking and foolishness going on in order to make time fly. I'm normally the one cracking jokes on everyone. Well my coworkers gave it to my when I showed up to worked with my headscarf on. They went from pancake jokes to Erica Badu jokes to Yahweh ben Yahweh jokes. Other than that everything has been easy.
