Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah

As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

2nd Jumada al-Awwal 1434 (14th March 2013)

Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "Allah said, 'I have prepared for My pious worshipers such things as no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard of, and nobody has ever thought of. All that you have seen is nothing beside that which is reserved."

Then he recited:--

'No soul knows what is kept hidden (in reserve) for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do.' (32.17)

Bukhari Vol. 6 : No. 303

Abu Dhar al-Ghafari said: “The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: ‘Sadaqah is prescribed for every person every day the sun rises.’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, from what do we give sadaqah if we do not possess property?’ He said: ‘The doors of sadaqah are takbir (Allahu Akbar), Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La-ilaha-ilAllah, Astaghfirullah, enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing thorns, bones and stones from the paths of people, guiding the blind, listening to the deaf and dumb until you understand them, guiding a person to his object of need if you know where it is, hurrying with the strength of your legs to one in sorrow who is appealing for help, and supporting the weak with the strength of your arms. These are all the doors of sadaqah.” [Ahmad]

In other words one does not need to have financial resources to earn the reward of sadaqah. There are many deeds that qualify as sadaqah with Allah (subhana wa ta’ala). In addition to those listed above the following ordinary courtesies are also sadaqah if we do them with the intention of pleasing Allah with them.

1. To administer justice between two people is sadaqah.
2. To assist a man upon his mount so that he may ride it is sadaqah.
3. To place his luggage on the animal is sadaqah.
4. A good word is sadaqah.
5. Every step taken toward prayer is sadaqah.
6. Your smile for your brother is sadaqah.
7. Planting anything from which a person, an animal or anything eats is sadaqah.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The most truthful statement a poet has ever made is the saying of Labid: Everything besides Allah is vain.”

[Al-Bukhari Book 05, Chapter 58, Hadith #
181]

I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Why do you do it since Allah has forgiven you your faults of the past and those to follow?"

He said, "Shouldn't I love to be a thankful slave (of Allah)?'

When he became old, he prayed while sitting, but if he
wanted to perform a bowing, he wound get up, recite (some other verses) and then perform the bowing.

So, whoever can, should not miss the offering of
prayers before sunrise (Fajr prayer) and before sunset (Asr prayer)."

Then the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) recited:

But this (warning) only increased him and the Muslims in Faith and they said: "Allah (Alone) is sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)".

And there are two gardens, the utensils and contents of which are made of silver; and two other gardens, the utensils and contents of which are made of so-and-so (i.e. gold) and nothing will prevent the people staying in the Garden of Eden from seeing their Lord except the curtain of Majesty over His Face."

Bukhari Vol. 6 : No. 402

Hazrat Buraidah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "That which differentiates us from the disbelievers and hypocrites is our performance of Salat. He who abandons it, becomes a disbeliever.”

'Abdullah (bin Masud) said. "Allah curses those ladies who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those ladies who
remove the hair from their faces and those who make artificial spaces between their teeth in order to look more beautiful whereby they change
Allah's creation."

His saying reached a lady from Bani Asd called Um Yaqub who came (to Abdullah) and said, "I have come to know that you have cursed
such-and-such (ladies)?"

He replied, "Why should I not curse these whom
Allah's Apostle has cursed and who are (cursed) in Allah's Book!"

Um Yaqub said, "I have read the whole Quran, but I did not find in it what you say."

He said, "Verily, if you have read it (i.e. the Quran), you have found it. Didn't you read:

'And whatsoever the Apostle gives you take it and whatsoever he forbids you, you abstain (from it).' (59.7)

She replied, "Yes, I did."

He said, "Verily, Allah's Apostle forbade such
things." She said, "But I see your wife doing these things?"

He said, "Go and watch her." She went and watched her but could not see anything in
support of her statement. On that he said, "If my wife was as you thought,
I would not keep her in my company."

anything besides Allah, will not commit illegal sexual intercourse, and will not steal?"

Then he recited the Verse concerning the women. Sufyan, the subnarrator, often said that the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam)
added, "Whoever among you fulfills his pledge, will receive his reward from Allah, and whoever commits any of those sins and receives the legal

Narrated Abu Said (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

I heard the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) saying, "Allah will bring forth the severest Hour, and then all the Believers, men and women,
will prostrate themselves before Him, but there will remain those who used to prostrate in the world for showing off and for gaining good reputation.

Such people will try to prostrate (on the Day of Judgment) but their backs will be as stiff as if it is one bone (a single vertebra)."

Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, “When Allah desires good for a ruler, He appoints for him a sincere adviser who will remind him if he forgets and helps him if he remembers. When Allah wishes for him the contrary, He appoints for him a bad adviser who will not remind him if he forgets, nor will he help him if he remembers.”
[Abu Dawud, Hadith #
2932]

I'm not sure to what degree these qualify as ahadith but some lessons need to be learned one way or another.

Ibn Abi ad-Dunya reported that Fudayl ibn ‘Ayad said: “It was said to ‘Eesa, ‘O ‘ ‘Eesa, how do you walk on water?’
He said, ‘With my faith and certainty in (the belief of) Allah.’
They said, ‘But we believed like you have and we have certainty like you have.’
‘Eesa said, ‘Then walk.’
When they started walking with him on the waves, they drowned.
‘Eesa said, ‘What happened?’
They said, ‘We were scared of the waves.’
‘Esa said, ‘Do you not fear the Lord of the waves?’
Then he took them out of the water, stroke the earth with his hands, taking up some dust, and when he opened them, in open hand there was gold and pebbles in the other. He asked, ‘Which one is more desired by you?’
They said, ‘Gold.’
‘Eesa said, ‘Both are equal to me.’”

…It is reported that ‘Eesa said: “O’ the weak son of Adam, fear Allah wherever you are. Be in this world like a guest and take the mosques as a house. Teach your eye how to cry, patience to your body and thinking to your heart. And do not concern yourself with the provision of the next day.”
