Hair thinning in women

I think she always ties her hair in a bun at the back.

Has always observed hijab from a young age, about age 10.

I know the hijab thins the hair, and south asian women have thin hair generally?

hijab thins the hair?? first I've heard.

I think the water you use to wash you hair can make you lose hair because of the levels of chlorine in it.

She may need to line her Khimar meaning get a a satin scarf to wear under her khimar becasue some material that most khimars are made of take out hair. She also has to keep her edges or anywhere her hair is thinning greased. She can use pomade, doo gro, any kind of hair grease that is for thnning hair. She can also get some hair, nails and skin vitamins that will help her hair to grow back. Wash her hair like every week or every two weeks and braid it up. Patene is a good at home shampoo. but she must grease her hair daily. Its probably breaking off from being dry.
I hope this helps. Also drinking lots of water help your hair to grow too.

hijab doesnt thin the hair.....well, my hair is thin too but i went to a dermatologist and he said that i tie my hair too tight and that i should use a clip when im not wearing my hijab....maybe that's her problem too..

The gorget material hijab as opposed to the rayon or poleyester is not good for the hair because its tends to thin out the edges or the the hair. I went through this with my hair and I went to a hair care salon and that was my problem. the material of the hijab so she told me to wear satin scarf under my khimar and do keep my edges greased and i was/am taking vitamins and my edges came back nicley.

Maybe she washes her hair with hot water, that made me lose hair :(

but urm i heard if you cute your hair it grows thicker,

but that may not be the same in this case,

coz when my baby sis got her hair trimmed it grew quicker and it was more volumised

Anonymous if you're a sister do you have acess to the sisters section? Maybe your thread can be moved there.

Say she does all of that:
1. Changes the way she ties her hair.
2. Changes material of hijab, satin underscarf?
3. Takes vitamin supplements.
4. Washes hair less, using cold water.
5. Avoids harsh chemicals on scalp, no shampoo
6. Uses a wide toothed comb.
7. Stress relieveing techniques.

Is it likely that her hair will grow back thicker?

I always have faith that everything that Allah and His messenger order us, then this is the best for human, and will bring a good results insha Allah.
Anbd this girl have wore hijab since 10? MAsha Allah, what a good educated muslimah, and this is no reason to have a thought that her thin hair caused by her hijab. Im sure theres another caution about her problem. Every women have different typical of hair, and maybe thats her typical hair, Allahu a'lam. But Im sure theres some ways to solve it, like using natural medicine to make her hairgrom normal, example, using olive hair for her hair, or habbas saudah, or using the right natural shampoo that can make her hair grow normal, insha Allah as long as she always husnuzhan to Allah, Im sure her problem can be solved.

Wearing hijab has nothing to do with the thinning of hair. One’s diet and styling of hair has more impact. If your friend eats healthily, a lot of vegetables, fruit, sufficient intake of water then she should not experience thinning of hair. Also tying back hair all the time puts more pressure on the front part of the head so as expected over several years the hair starts to become finer.

She can opt for a more healthy diet; if she does not already do so and tell her to leave her hair open when she is at home and when she is tying it back to do it loosely. If after several months there is no change ask her to see her doctor.

Inshallaah everything goes well for the sister!

I'm not saying to change hijab just protect her hair with satin underscarf. I believe she should wash her hair just get a good product ie patene. But yes avoid harsh chemicals. And when she in the home, let her hair down out of the bun even when she is wearing hijab, she can like wrap her hair around under hijab. Yes, take vitamins. and keep her edges greased and her hair trimmed. I hope this help.

she can try
1)use baby shampoo to wash hair (every 3 days) if you go more than that your hair will get real greasy and that isn't good.
2)use a really good conditioner. a good rule is that the thicker it is the better it works.
3)stop with the bun!!!! the tighter you pull back your hair the more damage it does. intead try a loose french braid to keep it back while wearing the scarf.
4)while at home wear your hair down. most important is while sleeping.

over time her hair should start to grow back if any of these are the problem.
thinning hair can also be genetic though so there may be nothing she can do. if after a few months of trying this and it doens't help then she can go to the doctor/dermatologist. they can give her special shampoo that will help hair grow.

:sl:

is her hair dropping out in bunches?
is she under stress?
