Study prefects' duties, see how you can apply them and come up with a convincing 'sales pitch'. The usual. Work hard, kick some ass, save the world.

Work more at school.

I'm not joking. All you have to do is recapture that school-mentality. Timetables and plans also help a great deal for a lot of people. If you're like me, setting and achieving clear goals works better - as in 'today, I'll answer a question on this area'.
