I believe somebody at CNET had too much time on his hands. Look carefully at that picture and keep in mind we are talking about a 24/7 store in downtown Manhattan. Is there a single person naive enough to believe that a store as small as that block would suffice to handle the potential customer base? Look again at the store being constructed in the background. That is most likly the store. I would suspect that the large black cube is building materials under black plastic wrap for protection.
Looks like a newsreporter saw an opportunity to make an issue from a non-issue.
Like many Arabic words Makkah has worked itself into the English language as Mecca. The uncapitalized mecca simply means a point of interest. Pilgrimage in English does not equate to Hajj. In English it is simply a large group going to the same place for the same reason. Pilgramige unless called a Holy Pilgramige has no religious meaning, in English.
